Jibarita Canvas Tote Bag

My heritage comes from the west coast country side of Puerto Rico which literally is what Jibaritas means: Country Girl.
Country Girl from the islands is way different than the states.

I was inspired by characters in my life along with traditions and colors of the islands.

The dresses are influenced by Bomba which is a traditional dance & musical style of Puerto Rico. Rooted by the island’s history of African slavery, today it has evolved into a community expression of Puerto Rican culture.

Bomba is about a creative, interactive relationship between dancers, percussionists and singers.

Although I cannot encompass on one shot the vast beauty of every color & shade of the Puerto Rican people, I did my best to have variety.

I also wanted them to radiate the colorful vibrancy across all Latino/ Hispanic Culture in one way or another.
